Ten tips for terrific skin
Do you want to maintain radiant glowing skin in-between spa treatments? Follow these simple tips to keep your skin healthy and hydrated.
Drink water – by keeping your body hydrated, you moisturise your skin from the inside out. Drink at least 1-2 litres a day.
Use a good moisturiser – using a good moisturiser on exposed skin areas helps to protect the skin from sun and wind damage.
A little vitamin D – 10 to 15 minutes of sun every day is good for bone density, red blood cells and energy, but make sure it’s no longer than that. Always wear a hat!
Stay cool – avoid very HOT showers because they tend to dry out your skin.
Let your body breathe – cotton and cotton-blend clothing is cool. Natural fibres allow your body to breathe and can help to regulate your body temperature more effectively.
Love lemons – citrus contains antioxidants that support the skin, so include a good serving of lime, lemon, pineapple and orange in your diet.
More fruit – paw paw is excellent for skin and aids digestion. It can also help to relieve minor burns, cuts, cold sores, cracked lips and other skin conditions.
Eat veggies – boost energy and support your immune system by eating more vegetables. Try water-based vegetables such as cucumber, zucchini and lettuce to hydrate the skin.
General care – use a ‘loofah’ to stimulate blood circulation and exfoliate dead skin cells before you shower. Finish showering with cold water to close your skin pores and then apply a moisturiser.
