You may find that you experience skin discomfort during winter. If you don’t look after your skin during these harsher months, your skin may become irritated, cracked and even bleed.
To prevent this, we recommend you adopt the following skin regime.
- Wash your skin with lukewarm water!
It can be tempting to have a very hot shower when it’s freezing outside. However, this will dry your skin out and is likely to strip important oils from your skin.
- Moisturise regularly
Using an organic moisturiser regularly can help protect your skin, and keep it soft and glowing. Using a good moisturiser on exposed skin areas helps to protect the skin from sun and wind damage during the warmer months.
- Drink plenty of water
By keeping your body hydrated, you moisturise your skin from the inside out. Drink at least 1-2 litres a day.
It’s important to remove dead skin cells by exfoliating correctly during winter. It may feel odd rubbing skin that is dry, but this can help your skin to more easily absorb moisturisers.
- Use DIY masks
Natural masks can provide your skin with the moisture it needs, naturally.
Try this avocado Skin Mask (for dry skin types)
The omega fatty acids that are naturally found in avocado and olive oil help to regain skin moisture. The other ingredients (yoghurt and honey) will help leave your skin soft and plump.
You will need:
- 1 avocado, puréed
- 2 tablespoons of plain yoghurt
- 1 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoons honey
To make this mask, simply whisk together the ingredients until they form a smooth paste. Place the paste onto a freshly washed, towel-dried face and leave for five minutes before rinsing with warm water.
