Are you having trouble remembering things? Struggling to recall all those facts and figures you studied last week for a test coming up? It’s easy to assume the harder and longer you study or try to remember, the better off you’ll be. However, the more we cram and stress – the harder it is for our memory to work efficiently.
Don’t dismay! There is a surprisingly quick and easy solution. If you take time out to sit or lie down very quietly and still for 10 – 15 minutes, it can make all the difference.
Put away the books, silence your smartphone and just sit.
Meditate on your thoughts, clear your mind and relax in a quiet corner of the garden or a dimly lit room. For the best outcome try finding a peaceful place with limited distractions and a calming atmosphere. Perhaps light a scented candle or place a warm lavender pack over your forehead.
Place your arms by your sides or rest them gently in your lap and focus on your breathing. Try your best not to fidget, some find it helpful to picture a still body of water, or waves gently lapping on the beach, imagine yourself floating on the surface or a pool…
This simple meditation technique is great for students who are learning a large amount of material. Lack of memory recall can be very frustrating and stressful so this is also a good way to restart a positive mental disposition and reset you mind for more learning.
