“The desire to create is one the deepest yearnings of the human soul.”
– Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Feeling overwhelmed or just mentally drained after the festive season? We recommend getting creative!
Being mindful is the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. A mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
Creative activities can be highly therapeutic for the mind and can help to relieve stress and other mental problems naturally. It can also help improve our physical wellbeing. For instance, stress can cause weight gain or weight loss in some of us – creative activities can help our bodies to find a more natural and regular balance in life.
Why not try one of the following this week?
Compose or read a poem
Find a new, challenging or interesting recipe to cook or bake
Find a new playlist to listen to and try singing along
Plan an event for yourself, a family member or friend
Attend a local art class in painting, textiles, pottery or whatever takes your fancy
Recharge your creative and physical energy this year by making time to do something inventive on a regular basis. If you have children, why not make creative activity a regular pastime for the whole family? The rewards will surprise you!
