As the months become cooler and the days seem shorter, we often find it more of a challenge to stay motivated to exercise. However, maintaining your drive as the seasons change doesn’t have to be difficult!
If you’re feeling lethargic or unmotivated, your body is probably telling you it’s fatigued, which is why it’s important we get enough sleep. It’s a lot easier to feel inspired when you also feel revitalized and well rested.
Make sure you get about eight hours sleep each night to really give your body a chance to recuperate.
A great way to increase motivation levels is by embracing nature. Whether it is out in the bush, by the beach, or in your own backyard, it can be extremely uplifting to spend time outdoors. You could go for a walk or a bike ride, have a picnic with friends, read in the park, or just lie in the grass – you’ll be surprised by how much better you’ll feel for it!
We recommend meditation or yoga as a great way to refresh your thinking and calm your mind. If you’ve never tried it before, why not give it a go this winter? It’s important for us to find the time to relax the mind and body.
Another simple way to relax is to listen to music. This will feed your mind and stimulate your creativity. If you are someone who responds physically to music it can create unique energy within your body.
It’s also important to stay organised and on top of your to-do list. When we get snowed under we become stressed which can severely affect our enthusiasm. Limit procrastination and you’ll feel a real sense of accomplishment.
Finally, and arguably most importantly, keep yourself hydrated and eat well. Nourishing your body will leave you feeling energized and ready to take on the cold!
