The importance of an excellent aftershave for someone who clean shaves their face and neck regularly cannot be understated. Wet shaving can be very damaging to the skin.
Whether you’re shaving for the first time or just want to better protect your skin against irritation, we’ve perfected an aftershave that does all this and more.
Our base ingredient is pimenta racemose bay leaves which has been used as a classic aftershave base for more than a century. It not only provides a spicy fragrance, but also contains more antibacterial properties than the traditional store-bought bay leaf. This is combined with a scentless rubbing alcohol which instantly cleanses the face of any bacteria and closes up the pores. It will also extract those all-important oils and fragrances from the bay leaves. From here, add in any essential oils you like. In the recipe below, we have chosen witch hazel for cleansing and added lavender oil for its relaxation and anti-bacterial properties.
- Pimenta racemosa bay leaves
- Rubbing alcohol
- Lavender oil
- Witch hazel oil
- Add the ingredients to a large jar and stir
- Secure the lid tightly and store in a cool, dry place for a few weeks. This will allow the oils to extract from the leaves and infuse into the alcohol.
- Strain into a spray bottle.
To use, simply spray on to the freshly shaven area and proceed to massage the mist into the face.
