Cucumber soothing skin treatments
Cucumber is not only edible but can also be a fantastic addition to our beauty and wellness routine. It contains vitamins A, B, C, potassium, antioxidants as well as wonderful anti-inflammatory properties which makes it a great ingredient to treat inflamed skin.
Below are three remedies where cucumber comes to the rescue.
- Sunburn
Of course, we try our best to avoid getting too much sun but sometimes the best laid plans go astray.
To help with the effects of sunburn try this remedy. Either peel off the skin from the cucumber and mash the cucumber or slice the cucumber into thin slices. Place the cucumber directly on the affected area, leave for 15 minutes, rinse off with cool water.
- Puffy eyes
A few late nights or not enough sleep can cause puffiness and dark circles around the eyes.
Using cucumbers will have a hydrating effect and help reduce that puffiness. Simply cut 2 slices of cucumber, recline in a comfortable position and place the slices gently on closed eyes. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cucumber is no longer cool and remove.
- Sagging facial skin
As we age so does our skin and one impact can be slackening facial skin.
This facial mask can help reduce this because of the anti-inflammatory benefits of cucumbers. Remove the skin from a large cucumber and blend or mash, strain thoroughly and preserve the liquid. Apply the cucumber juice to clean skin and leave for 15 minutes. Wash off with cool water and pat dry with a clean, soft cloth.
