The importance of relaxation

The mantra of too much work and not enough play is becoming more and more apparent in our busy lives.

Practicing the art of relaxation is essential to achieving a good work/life balance. Relaxation is not a discipline or a chore – it’s simply taking time out to focus on you.

Everyone is different so finding the thing that will best help you to relax is the key. For some it will be reading a book, pursuing a favourite hobby or spending an afternoon with friends.

To really help your mind and body relax and rejuvenate you should also try some regular meditation, yoga, Tai Chi and have a massage or beauty treatment every few weeks too.

Eating clean food, drinking plenty of water, sleeping well also helps your body’s ability to relax. Avoiding stimulants like caffeine and alcohol, processed foods with high levels of sugar and artificial ingredients is very important in this context.

Nurture your body … it’s the only one you have!
