A good start to the day can reduce stress, increase your productivity and help you feel confident about the day ahead.

While a lot of us have morning routines, we may not necessarily feel we’re experiencing all of these benefits. There’s a lot of advice on creating the ultimate morning routine but they can be difficult to implement because they require a lot of time or don’t fit with our lifestyles.

Here are four quick, simple things you can do to elevate your morning routine:

Drink water
When we sleep, we don’t consume any water for a long period of time. It’s important to drink water when you get up to rehydrate yourself. Having a few glasses of water first thing in the morning can also help to rid your body of toxins, kickstart your metabolism and make you more alert.

Meditate
Meditating in the morning can help you feel more awake and get you into a good mindset for the day ahead. The start of the morning tends to be quiet and free from distractions, making it a perfect time to meditate. It can build a sense of calm and clarity which can help you to manage stress throughout the day.

Make your bed
There’s a reason your parents told you to make your bed every morning. By making your bed you have successfully completed a task and can go on to complete another task, and another. It’s also great to come back to after a long day.

Get moving
Morning exercise can help you feel more awake and relieve any stress. You don’t need to do a long, intense workout. Anything that gets you moving, and your blood pumping is good. It could be a walk down your street, stretching for 5-10 minutes or dancing around to your favourite songs.
There’s no single perfect morning routine. Incorporate things that suit your lifestyle and make you feel good.
