Baked Pears with Spices & Coconut Yoghurt

Warm, softly spiced fruit is one of the simplest ways to ease into autumn. These baked pears are gently sweet, comforting, and nourishing, a dessert that feels special without being rich or overwhelming. Perfect for cooler March evenings, this recipe is designed to support steady energy and mindful indulgence.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe pears (Bosc or Packham work well)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- Pinch of ground nutmeg or cardamom
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup water or fresh orange juice
To serve
- Coconut yoghurt
- Toasted coconut flakes or chopped nuts (optional)
Method
- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan).
- Cut pears in half lengthways and remove cores. Place cut-side up in a baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix coconut oil, maple syrup, spices and vanilla. Spoon over pears.
- Pour water or orange juice into the base of the dish.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, basting halfway, until pears are tender and lightly caramelised.
- Serve warm with a generous dollop of coconut yoghurt and optional toppings.
