Baked Pears with Spices & Coconut Yoghurt

Warm, softly spiced fruit is one of the simplest ways to ease into autumn. These baked pears are gently sweet, comforting, and nourishing, a dessert that feels special without being rich or overwhelming. Perfect for cooler March evenings, this recipe is designed to support steady energy and mindful indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe pears (Bosc or Packham work well)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg or cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup water or fresh orange juice

To serve

  • Coconut yoghurt
  • Toasted coconut flakes or chopped nuts (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan).
  2. Cut pears in half lengthways and remove cores. Place cut-side up in a baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, mix coconut oil, maple syrup, spices and vanilla. Spoon over pears.
  4. Pour water or orange juice into the base of the dish.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes, basting halfway, until pears are tender and lightly caramelised.
  6. Serve warm with a generous dollop of coconut yoghurt and optional toppings.
