Ten tips to boost your bags
We all know working too much and not getting enough sleep can really affect our eyes. Sore, dry, tired and tender patches on the skin that lies beneath our eyes make us feel wrinkled and aged.
Let’s do something about that!
Here are 10 quick ways to hide those tired eyes. There’s lots of easy options here so choose the ones that appeal and see how they help make your eyes feel fresh and alert for the rest of the week ahead.
1. Stay hydrated
Hydrating your body is not only essential for a happy, healthy body but it also reduces the puffiness under your eyes. We should all be drinking at least two litres of water a day.
2. Break a few eggs
Not only are egg whites good for a tasty omelette, but applied moderately and gently under the eyes, they can reduce swelling and inflammation. Leave it for 20 seconds before removing with some warm water.
3. Tea time
Make two cups of green or chamomile tea, leave to chill and then sit back and relax with the tea bag over each eye for 10 to 15 minutes.
4. Legend – dairy
Cool your eyes and reduce water retention by dipping a few cotton pads in chilled milk and place over your eyelids for 20 to 30 minutes.
5. It’s oil good
Place a few drops of vitamin E oil into a chilled bowl of water and mix well. Dip a few cotton pads into the bowl and place onto your eyelids for 20 minutes and reduce that swelling!
6. Spud special
Slice a cold raw potato into two pieces and place onto your eyelids for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Make sure you cover the whole eye as well as the bags beneath them and watch the magic happen.
7. It’s not a big dill
Cucumber! Not just a tasty snack but also a fantastic way to sooth and reduce the puffiness under your eyes. Take a chilled cucumber from your fridge; thinly slice two pieces and place over your closed eyes. Sit back and relax for 25 to 30 minutes. Then gently wash your face with warm water and thoroughly dry your skin.
8. Ice, ice baby!
Place four stainless steel spoons into the fridge until chilled. Then in 30-second intervals place a spoon over each eye. As the spoons lose their cool, switch the first two spoons over, placing the used spoons back into the fridge to cool up once more. Repeat this till you feel improvement.
9. Berry good for you
Strawberries contain an anti-inflammatory called polysaccharides. Apply a teaspoon of crushed cool strawberries mixed with a little honey under your eyes and rinse with cool water after 10 minutes. Look and smell amazing!
10. Sea the difference
Mix together one part warm water and half part sea salt into a saline solution. Soak a few eye pads or cotton balls for 10 seconds and then gentle place over your eyelids for 10 to 15 minutes.
