Motivation to move in the cooler months
While it might be appealing to snuggle back into the warm sheets and hit snooze on your morning alarm, rather than braving the increasingly crisp morning air, continuing movement and exercise in the cooler months is vital.
Here are some tips to keep you exercising this autumn.
Lay out your workout clothes the night before
Whilst it may sound simple, this tip can make all the difference when the appeal of staying in bed is strong. Seeing the clothes when you wake up, will motivate you to get up and start the day right. Even a simple walk around the block in the morning can be enough to feel energized and motivated to begin the day.
Exercise with friends
There is nothing more motivating than having other people around you. We recommended enlisting the help of friends to keep each other accountable and make exercising more social. Exercising with friends is more enjoyable and feel less like a chore. You can even treat yourselves to a nutritious breakfast afterwards.
Try a new activity
We all know how repetitive and boring doing the same activity over and over can be, that’s why it’s important to mix up our exercise routine. It’s never too late to try something new! Try a social dance class, cycling, a new walk location, tennis, touch football or mountain bike riding. Be adventurous. You may even find a new passion and meet some great people along the way. Exercise should feel exciting and uplifting, so stepping out of our comfort zones and exploring new activities is important.
