Rail trails are shared-use paths recycled from abandoned railway corridors. They are becoming increasingly popular and are well maintained for cyclists. Rail trails exist all over Australia and are a fantastic way to combine sight-seeing with exercise. Some of our favourite paths are the Bundaberg to Gin Gin Rail Trail in Queensland, the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail in New South Wales and the Great Southern Rail Trail in Victoria. You will also enjoy great hospitality as you travel through the numerous towns along the tracks. 

  1. Skiing 

As the weather cools down, now is the perfect time to consider visiting one of Australia’s ski resorts. We are extremely lucky to have fantastic ski mountains on our doorstep. Make a weekend of it and combine the fantastic cardiovascular exercise of skiing or snowboarding with all the great activities on offer at ski resorts. You can choose from Thredbo, Perisher Blue, Mount Buller, Hotham and more.

You’d be surprised at the amount of fitness activities resorts offer to guests. There are numerous places you can stay that have an abundance of healthy outdoor activities on offer for the whole family like tennis, golf, walking trails, paddle boating, archery, horse riding, mountain biking and more.
