Three tips to enjoy a happy and healthy Easter

The Easter holiday period is a time filled with delicious family meals, and treats available everywhere you look! For those working hard on their health goals, this time of the year can be a huge challenge. So, to make it easier for you, here are 3 tips to make the best of the holiday without compromising your health and wellness goals.

1. Start your day off right:

You can’t always control what foods are served to you during the long Easter weekend, but you can control what you eat for breakfast that day. As with any morning, starting off healthily, sets you up for a the day ahead. Enjoy a breakfast high in protein, fat and fibre, which will keep you satiated until lunchtime.

2. Allow yourself treats but make healthy swaps:

Depriving yourself of all of the delicious food others are enjoying, might well leave you feeling excluded and resentful. Instead, serve up some tasty and healthy alternative sweet treats. For example, instead of buying chocolate eggs at the store, full of harmful toxins and high amounts of refined sugar, make some of our healthy chocolate and coconut bliss balls –https://hopewoodlifestyle.com.au/project/bliss-balls/

Another option is to “take charge” of the dessert at the family feast. Instead of a decadent dessert that requires lots of processed ingredients, why not try one of our healthier, but just as tasty desserts:

No Bake Carrot Cake: https://hopewoodlifestyle.com.au/project/no-bake-carrot-cake/

3. Get moving:

With all this talk of chocolate, sweet treats and desserts, the temptation can be a little overwhelming! This is the perfect time to go outside and get that heart rate up! Even if it’s a brisk walk around the block or down to your closest park. Getting some fresh air will help give your mind a break and is an effective way to reduce your cravings for sweets, just ensure you’re practising social distancing if you are walking with a family member or friend. These simple and easy activities will help you maintain your wellness goals over the public holiday and help you maintain your fitness routine.
