Keep cool this summer
Looking for ways to beat the heat this summer? You don’t just have to stay inside and crank the aircon. There are natural ways to help you keep cool this summer.
Eat cooling foods
You don’t have to rely on frozen treats and icy beverages to keep you cool. Certain foods can have a cooling effect on your body. These include cucumber, lettuce, mint, melons, berries, citrus fruits, coconut and avocado.
Use a water bottle
In the warmer weather, you need to drink more regularly to stay hydrated. Take a water bottle with you when you’re going out and fill it up when you can. Using a water bottle at home can remind you to drink water and help you keep track of how much you’re drinking.
Make homemade juices
While water is the best choice to quench your thirst in summer, it’s nice to have a change. Switch it up by having a fresh juice. They’re refreshing and provide nutrients that can be easily absorbed by the body. Just search some of our juice recipes.
Stay in the shade
Being out in the sun all day increases our risk of sunburn and heatstroke. Choose spots in the shade when you’re outside. Pack an umbrella in case you need to create your own shade. If you have an outdoor area, consider ways that you can provide some shade.
Choose breathable clothes
Clothes that allow air to flow through them will help you stay cool. If you’re looking for some new pieces for your summer wardrobe, choose natural fabrics like organic cotton and linen as they are more breathable. Loose fitting clothes are also better for summer.
