When you dine, take your time

As a result of our busy, chaotic lifestyles, many people develop rushed eating habits. The practice of eating slowly has significantly decreased as we’re rushing to work, getting the kids to ballet or just trying to generally cram far too much into every day. However, if we take the time to eat slowly, we provide both our body and mind with many benefits.

  • Better digestion
  • Better hydration
  • Easier weight loss or maintenance
  • Greater enjoyment of our meal

Eating slowly gives our body the time it needs to register that we’re digesting food and to realise when we’re full. Eating slowly reduces the tendency to overeat. It helps us digest our food in a more efficient and effective manner which prevents stomach aches, cramping and ensures steady bowel movements.

So, the next time you sit down to dine, don’t forget to take your time!
