World Yoga Day

This week we are celebrating International Day of Yoga. There is no better week to roll out the yoga mat and give some poses a go. Yoga originated in India and its practice has physical, mental, and spiritual benefits.

Yoga is of great significance to many people and its benefits include:

  • Improved heart health by alleviating stress
  • Can also improve your sleep

Yoga is a great form of gentle exercise that can be done at any level. 

There are many yoga studios which offer a great introduction to yoga. However, yoga is also something that can be practiced in the comfort of your own home. 

Yoga is a holistic form of exercise, with several components, including asana, pranayama, meditation, and deep relaxation techniques. 

Poses we recommend to get you started are:

  • Child’s Pose (Balasana)
  • Downward-Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanansana)
  • Mountain Pose (Tadasana)
